If Ableton introduced better ways of integrating external synths and effects processors, then it should also allow the user to draw midi controllers as envelopes. Most of the better/unique sounding synths are still from the MIDI era.
Computer: MBP M1Pro 32GB 1TB, MixPre 6 MKII
Hardware: Syntrx II, Matriarch, Hydrasynth, Minifreak, Nord Drum 2, Modular (mainly Make Noise)
Controllers: Push 3, Launchpad Mk3, Launch Control, Sensel Morph, PC4, Nanokontrol

+ 1. Working with hardware and the Spectrasonics VSTs is very hard otherwise.

+1 it's a big need. all midi commands like pitch bend too.

would be great if you can record cc and pitch bend with the mouse (moving a slider while you record or overdub) too. a basic feature in other sequencers for a reason.
