Drum Racks Utilizing Warp/Time Stretch
Re: Drum Racks Utilizing Warp/Time Stretch
Bump. Until Ableton wakes up and adds warping to drum racks, there are two workarounds I know of:
a. warp, then resample or freeze/flatten, then slice; or
b. avoid drum racks altogether--instead, chop samples in an audio track in session view. ie, create a bunch of warped audio clips, with your chops being different start positions of the sample. then set global quantize to 1/8th notes or around there , and sequence your chops (the audio clips in session view) using a midi controller, onto the arrange page.
Option b works pretty darn well. Give it a try.

bump!
Just made the jump from Logic to Ableton Push and Ableton Live 9 Suite and disappointed to find out I can't simply warp my samples in drum rack!
Interesting workarounds with Push?

Yes, please!
Re: Drum Racks Utilizing Warp/Time Stretch
Yes pretty please. Wishing for warping, or time stretching, or bpm sync samples in drumracks as well as simpler and sampler. +1!!!!

STILL!!
BUMP
Been waiting for years. This is the only thing holding push back. I’ve spend so much time thinking of switching to MPC or Maschine just for this.
Please Ableton, we need drum rack warping!

Re: Drum Racks Utilizing Warp/Time Stretch
I picked an sample with a sound repeating every bar for 8 bars, put one Warp Marker in the middle and dragged it left until the first 4 repetitions were squished into just one bar.
Then I used Slice to New MIDI track option, create slices per Warp Markers.
It created a Drum Rack with 2 pads, at C1 and C#1.
The C1 pad plays the 4 repetitions squished in 1 bar, just like the Warped Clip.
The C#1 pad plays the other 4 repetitions slower over 7 bars, just like the Warped Clip.
I can open the Drum Rack and see the Simplers in each pad, they clearly have the Warped audio just like the Warped Clip.
The resulting MIDI Clip also reflects that, with a 1 bar C1 note then a 7 bar C#1 note.
I think it works like that since Live 9.5.
