Allow copying of clips within sets from the browser

Post by robbmasters » Tue Apr 14, 2009 12:43 pm

There are a number of ways to load a sample from the file browser:
  1. Select the sample and click enter
  2. Drag the sample to the Session/Arrangement view
  3. Use copy and paste.
When working in a mouseless environment, neither option 1 nor option 2 is ideal: option 1 always creates a new track; and option 2 would involve some extremely complicated mouse emulation.

But option 3 is a Godsend: a key can be programmed to send Ctrl-C, Alt-RightArrow, Ctrl-V to load the sample.

However, this only works on true samples, not on clips within Live sets.

Could this please be extended to clips within Live sets so that we can use them in mouseless environments?

Hopefully that's only a small change. But it would make a big difference.

For gigs, a mouseless set-up can give a number of advantages - such as speed, accuracy, and convenience (e.g. the ability to do eveything from a MIDI controller, rather than continually switching from controller to mouse and keyboard and back again).

It's also better for the audience, who can see that you're playing a musical instrument rather than checking your emails...
