Retrospective record

Post by dna598 » Thu Jul 09, 2009 12:47 am

1.Users of the software actually called "LIVE" would really benefit from this.
2.As far as i am aware it would not be hard/resource heavy to implement, especially if it was only for midi.
3.Everyone else (logic, cubase user) has it.

yeah, kinda flabbergasted it aint in there.

could you share some light on what you mean? I don't use logic etc. (have only ever used Live) so your post didn't make any sense to me

ok then.

You play something cool.
You DIDNT press record, because you are being creative, and your hands are on your instrument.
But now choose/press "capture last take" (retrospective record)
It now appears as a clip.

That, really, is all.

ESSENTIAL STUFF

Yea, especially with midi this shouldn't be a too CPU-intensive feature. Would be really cool!

+FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF..... :D

i think also with audio this wouldn't take much recources. but there should be an option to change the lenght of the retrospctive record in MB or to turn it completly off. so you can adjust it to you system.

bump everytime i need it.

needed it last night working with 2 others on a minimal house track.

a short excerpt from the scene:

guy1: " hey!! whatever you just did, do it again!"

me: "OK"

shortly thereafter....

Guy2: " nah, whatver youre doing now, its not what you were doing before"

me : " I NEED RETROSPECTIVE RECORD"

The End. (NOT)

ableton live please, YOU HAVE MISSED SOMETHING CRUCIAL HERE.

sounds cool.. Maybe just press F9 everytime you open live and don't turn it off? (smart ass reply)

that's kind of the approach I take, but if you do that you'll quickly grow to hate Live's automation and wish we had a bypass record modifier:

(EDIT: I just did a search for my posts on this and I didn't realise just how much I've posted about this!

Don't worry I went and did my job by necro-bumping the first one. It's kind of a habit.

but everytime you stopped live got to press record again.
when you're jamming it's really probable, that you will forget it.

I really miss this from cubase.

hhhmmm must be a clunky workaround possible with bome MT, dummy clips and virtual midi port.
