better visual feedback for group tracks

I really need to be able to see at a glance where the group tracks are

I was thinking about this idea, which I don't really know how to implement.. but here goes (sorry for the semi-thread-hijack.)

But basically, since I don't scroll horizontally and only scroll vertically I was wondering if I could make a transparent overlay to go ontop of my Live screen? So that the tracks and various things could have a tint of different colors?

Anyone know if this is possible?

I could do it in photoshop to show you what I mean but I don't see how I could do this overlay Live in real-time.. some kind of transparent window with a .jpg or something in it?

I've been thinking about the same thing. Allso getting every other bar slightly darker in piano roll would be major improvement for quick viewing and beat/bassline programming.
