Pitch correcting effect in Live

Post by SonnyBonnier » Fri Oct 16, 2009 11:11 am

I know it´s pretty major, but I would like Ableton to create a Melodyne-type of pitch correcting effect in Live.

Some of the competiting DAW:s have already implemented it; Sonar has its "V-voice", Cubase has it´s "VariAudio", Logic has it´s "Pitch Correction".

The Sonar users seems to be very content with V-voice, not because it´s better than Melodyne, but because it integrates so perfactly with Sonar. I think a lot of Live users would also choose an Ableton software in front of Melodyne just to keep the workflow.

Since Live is supposed to be geared towards performance (hence the name), i do not see why this would be a good idea. There are tons of other softwares to choose from for production (some of them you listed), so please don't cripple my Live!

Gear i use: a computer with software on it and a couple of boxes with knobs.

Please no 'autotune type FX' or we may all end up making some silly RnB tunes. :D

I would like to see one too.. It's not effect per se - it's more like nessesary production tool. Reduces vox record takes and especially helps remix stuff. Yeah.. morons end up makin silly rnb tunes (whatever it means)

I'd rather see a Live-tailored version from Ableton+Melodyne that would appear as one of the warping modes: Melodyne4Live. This would require work from Ableton's side, but wouldn't require them to do it from the scratch. And as far as I'm concerned, this could be a separate product, like Max4Live, so those who need it could buy it.

And of course, it would operate in the clip-view instead of a separate window.

Well, ever heard of melodyne?

The stuff in the DAWs does not beat the flexibility of melodyne, so what is it good for ...? And the plugin version of melodyne make hardly any difference if any for the workflow between native or getting it right ...

I'd like to put my two cents in here too and request a Logic-type pitch correction for Live 9. That alone would get me to upgrade in heartbeat.
