The No1 Wish for Ableton Live

COMPING COMPING COMPING - Please vote for this function and leave a positive comment Thanks.

Logic 9, Protools, Digital Performer, Cakewalk Sonar. All have comping.

Anyone who says "Oh Ableton can do that" You simply don't know what your talking about.
There is no workaround for comping. Ableton has no alternative just plain old fashioned recording
Take by take cut paste, cut paste, cut paste, cut paste, cut paste, cut paste, cut paste.
or resize move, resize move, resize move, resize move,

IN ABLETON YOU CAN HOWEVER
Audition whole takes one after another after you have painstakingly set up one track, after another.
Then you have to Repeat the process all over again. For the next audio and midi track this takes ages.
Compared to how Quick and Efficient Comping is.

Then after you've done all that, you only have the ability to audition whole takes in another window or
you could just use comping but Ableton doesn't have Comping is only in
Protools, Logic, Digital Performer, Sonar. What a shame!

All the so called workarounds are just that, long time wasting workarounds.
Ableton has "No form of comping". Comping is now the No1 used function, in the recording of audio and midi.

ABLETON DOES NOT HAVE COMPING!!!!!!!!

Audio or Midi Comping

PS Bounce in place is also a part of the comping feature or bounce clips to clip.

Just a note

Comping is just as important for Midi recording as it is for audio recording
A. Lets say your playing in a difficult piano or synth part trying to get the feel just right.
B. Your creatively messing about and you want to audition different sections of what you played
and mute the ones your not sure about and audition them later with a friend or partner.
C.Your playing live and want to pick the first or second section to loop etc

There are so many uses for comping especially in a program like live
actually with lives workflow paradigm I thought they would be one of the first to
take advantage of the amazing benefits of comping for their users.

I believe of course that Bug Fixes, should always be first on any list.
Here are a few of my other pet peeves. Better Automation tools, a Better browser
Better fades/crossfades, floating windows, open close windows with F3 - F8
Apple & ACID like tempo & key matching when you audition loops or import & audio files etc etc

Anyway
Here is something to give you an idea of what comping is all about

Here is a clunky Ableton workaround if you want to call it that.

I'm with you. I could really use it especially now that I use launchpad for faster workflow when I'm recording. Comp would allow me to record multiple takes within a single clip and go back later and easily choose the best ones, or swipe to create a new clip out of the various takes, just like Logic.

1.) 2 projects (or more) opened at once and the ability to toggle between them.

2.) good reverb.

When you record in Live and let the track loop it has been my experience that you can move the " [ " bracket at the beginning of the loop and stretch it out all the way back to the beginning of the recording. So all your audio is there, but it is only displaying the most recent predefined loop size... does that make sense?

Makes no sense at all. Especially since its Ableton and their workflow usually does.

At the moment this is their biggest doo doo.
That dog shouldn't be allowed in Ableton park it just c$&ps all over my workflow.

When you say "makes no sense at all" do you mean you don't understand my answer or you don't like it?

The recording is there - non-destructive, and accessible if you need it.

I understand my answer and I like it?

It shows the limitations

Yes The recording is there - non-destructive, and accessible if you need it.
Its there you just have to fiddle.

But it sure as heck aint nothin compared to comping.

only displaying the most recent predefined loop size makes perfect sense
so does typing in numbers into a tracker to make music with or using v1 of Ableton if its all you have

Well I could get pissed that my car doesn't fly when I'm on my way to work, but it wouldn't do any good either...

+75 for comping.
for those of us who like to take a an audio clip, chop it up into million pieces, rearrange them in many ways, this would be awesome. like a group clip: an audio clip that includes several arranged audio clips inside. it's efficient and it would keep the arrange view neat and clean. imaging being able to move this audio 'group' clip to the session view and being able to edit the arranged audio clips inside of it on the fly without even leaving session view!

it just makes so much sense!

bounce in place gets another +75 from me

i think track comping need a playlist mode in the tracks like protools so maybe is not so simple to implement.
but would be great!
