Loop mode for clips even if warping is turned off
Loop mode for clips even if warping is turned off
I mainly don't use warping so it's a faff to have to enable warp and warp at some default tempo each time I want to activate loop mode. Also once warp is enabled I can't drag the start point except to the points designated by the warp results which means turning warp off and on all the time.
It would be a simple "feature" to allow loop mode even when warp is disengaged and perhaps add a command-drag feature to move start end and loop points in fine increments while warp is on.

yeah, i second that!
Re: Loop mode for clips even if warping is turned off
i really really REALLY miss that option too!
it would also be very nice to have a forward-reverse (back and forth) loop mode.

there is kind of a way round that using follow action to play again, i might be wrong tho. try it.

yeah. i tried it and it works. and you can set to the start position to where ever you want. hope thats helpful. its certainly opened my eyes a bitrude_NHS wrote:there is kind of a way round that using follow action to play again, i might be wrong tho. try it.
Re: Loop mode for clips even if warping is turned off
Still, it would be awesome to be able to set loop points and just have it loop without being warped.
Perhaps you could use Simpler to do something similar?

YES! Needed for sound quality assurance/basic ease of use
ctrl + left/right = select transient
ctrl + shift + left/right = select between transients
ctrl + space = play selection

Re: Loop mode for clips even if warping is turned off
it is possible. Basically you just manually override the clip's "Orig. BPM" so it is the same as the project tempo - no warping occurs when they are the same, even though the button is still lit up. You may need to adjust the loop length if the clip is supposed to be a different tempo and it may not be an even length that fits into the global quantise - but that's not possible without timestretching
also there is a forwards/backwards loop mode in the new 'transients' beat mode in Live 8 - it doesn't play the full sample that way though, only the grains used to timestretch - i.e. you'll probably only notice if the pitch or tempo of the clip is a lot lower than the original

i guess if you want a start position separate from your loop point then yeah, it wont work, so using a simpler is you best bet.fraxyl wrote:Still, it would be awesome to be able to set loop points and just have it loop without being warped.

however looping can be achieved in clips without using warp.

That's all great, but looping unwarped clips would be better. With sample accurate loop points when you zoom in. Like in so many other basic audio-programs.alex.the.forge wrote:it is possible.
