this has been killing me and- judging by the forums- plenty of users, for years.
I am so bored of having to work round this with saving anything I want to assign in my template set.
It wastes loads of time, its clumsy and inefficient. This MUST be solvable.

I've tried the other workrounds, they dont work or are very clumsy compared to how I actually want to flow.

Thanks for an otherwise brilliant program, its all I ever use for audio.

What is a midi assign? I can save a rack with its macros all set and load it up just the way I saved it. Any adjustment to any parameter is saved as well.

Midi assigns are mappings of any controllable value to a midi controller.

But I think the question is how to implement such a save feature in a rack. There are several things to think of, like what happens, if a midi-ctrl is already assigned, on loading a rack. So as if, what happens when you load more than one rack.

Maybe it is possible to save a list of midi assigns per rack, which are disabled by default and let the user choose one by a dropdown menu.

But I agree it would be a nice feature, if it would be possible to save assigns.

push... this is still sooooo cumbersom in live. 3 years and almost nothing has changed. I really think I going to switch when there is an alternative...

There would be an obvious conflict when you load in a rack and it contains mappings for commands that are already mapped elsewhere.. there would need to be an option to load with or without mappings
