Ableton Forum

Please consider adding phase metering tools, stereo shaping tools. I use ableton for recording and mixing. (No DJ stuff). I think there is a sizable (protools, cubase) audience out here that find ableton very intuitive and wonderful for recording and basic mixing. Give us a few more tools on the mastering / mixing side of the equation.

And with stereo shaping, you have with "utility" and "EQeight" infront of a chain two very powerful tools to work on a stereo file.

The only native DAW with actually good mastering tools is Sequioia/Samplitude. For pro results you need third party processors in everything else. While this may sound like just my opinion, it is based in a lot of experience and fact : )

I use Lives own mastering analog warmth preset.Take the saturator db down a bit,but that's it.I think it's fine.

The multiband compressor is actually awesome IMO...

I don't think I've tried that Setzer.I'll give it a go later.Put on return track,yes?

+1. Limiter is probably not the best choice for mastering (haven't tried it myself but I doubt you can drive it as hard with a full mix as say the Flux limiter), but the multiband comp is great. EQ8 in high quality mode is a decent equalizer as well. And Spectrum is a very good tool for mastering.

For Mixing, perhaps, when doing parallel compression of drums or such, but Mastering is a 2-track process only (for stereo music).
