Default Clip Color - Auto Assign
Default Clip Color - Auto Assign
Could we please have a setting for 'default auto-assign clip color'
The way it runs at the moment, you either have a one flat color for every clip...
Or, it always starts from Red in Scene 1 and works its way down the colors.
These first 20 or so colors are, perhaps only in my opinion, the ugliest colors available... you can of course go back and manually change them.
As a workaround I create 100-odd scenes, and start my recordings down in Scene 26 or so where the colors start to feel a little more sympathetic.
It's not a huge gripe, but surely it wouldn't be hard to implement.
All the best,

Re: Default Clip Color - Auto Assign
I'd like a 'as track color' option.
Have to use m4l for this.

+1
I've been looking everywhere for a way to have clip color auto-assigned based on track header, clip source tags, or anything.
There's a M4L device for this?
Thanks,
Sky

i've made my own, but it's really specific to my own setup. it's not meant to be flexible.

This was mentioned on the Live 9 beta forums... I still wish it was something like this:

Also would be cool to have an option to match clip name to track name.

+1, very basic but important feature.

This would be great for the new Launchpad MK2 / RGB.

I agree with matching clip colour and name to the track. Constant annoyance.

"Same as track" would be very nice. When creating new clips on a track, there could be some variation in the colour's saturation or lightness.
Also, there should definitely be fewer colours to choose from. I don't like navigating the current large grid for the same 3-6 colours I always use. I would personally prefer pastel colours rather than fully saturated ones.
Alternatively, I also like how Bitwig handles it automatically when creating new tracks, and how the colour selector is readily available in the sidebar.
Furthermore, it would be very helpful to have clips' colours used over the waveform in arrangement view, as LFO8 explained here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=195910

Another vote for pastel, I find the defaults very bright in a dark studio personally.

Just came to make this same thread. + a million. Should be at least an option to have clips color based off of the track color.
