lame.
sorry.

I remember reading about another scaling solution though... rendering everything at a higher resolution or something, which causes the vector graphics to look good?

There is an application in the Apple Store called 'Resolution Tab' (
https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/resolut ... 1595?mt=12), which allows you to double the native resolution on a Retina Macbook - you turn that on, then in Live's options you set the 'Scale' setting to 200%. This gives you a beautiful sharp display of Live, but all plugin windows are half as big as they should be - i.e. impossible to see, and the mouse pointer is half the size and moves half as quickly.
I've heard of some people working like this but personally I didn't find it workable. YMMV.

Exactly. NI has this exact same problem, and seems to give about as much of a damn as Ableton does when it comes to fixing it...

I can't remember the last time I've read an official post on this forum.

Don't know if I would call that an official post, looked like a forum moderator.

I've opened up this same conversation with the guys at ZBrush. What a difference from Ableton. While nobody is promising anything, I've been in regular email contact with two of the ZBrush devs and they've started active discussions around the re-scaling process with the team.
Ableton has ignored this (including support tickets) for almost two years now...

did they say anything in terms of how hard it is to implement... like what the stumbling blocks may be or anything that would indicate what, if anything, would hold up the release?

Who? Ableton? They didn't say shit.
The ZBrush guy acknowledged that there would be some tricky bits, and that it would probably be rolled out in a version upgrade rather than a point release. Honestly, even if they never do it, at least they had the courtesy to talk to a long-time customer (and to pass me on to actual devs, not just some dude making minimum wage cutting and pasting replies into support tickets...).
edit: By the way, do any of you testers know if Bitwig supports Retina? I posted a question on their FB page, but no reply.
