Update LIVE 9 for RETINA !!!
Re: Update LIVE 9 for RETINA !!!
I agree that Retina support is a MUST, and I don't really understand why does it take so much time to implement it.
Ableton uses really simple graphical assets, so it should be easy enough to redraw them at @2x resolution.
If it's not possible to have all the icons and knobs retinized now, I'd like to have fonts at least. Mac4Live already supports high resolution and displays text at 2x inside Ableton (if you enable it).

Re: Update LIVE 9 for RETINA !!!
if you zoom in to 200% then close and reopen the preferences and return to 100% it looks immaculate
surely someone else has noticed this?
i haven't read the whole thread but people still wanting retina 'support' at the end isn't a good sign

Thanks for the post GhostMutt but the not sure if the pics make sense?
Top One is a normal MBP with Live??
and below..
Live on a Retina MBP..??
either way they will both look the same as Live has not been updated for Retina machines.

Whats needed is Ableton just to make it happen.

Re: Update LIVE 9 for RETINA !!!
@Ghost Mutt, thanks so much for your feedback! It is the first time a hear about a reliable solution for the retina problem (until Ableton finally implements it of course!!! @Ableton are you there?? ).
I just want to upgrade my old MBP to a new one with retina support and this is the main issue for not doing it yet so it is a really important topic for me!
Could anybody with a retina MBP please confirm if the workaround proposed by @Ghost Mutt solves the problem?
Thanks again!

There is absolutely no difference.. you zoom in.. you zoom out.. back to square one.sinextesia wrote: Could anybody with a retina MBP please confirm if the workaround proposed by @Ghost Mutt solves the problem?
So no this is not a solution. Sorry.

Re: Update LIVE 9 for RETINA !!!
fargo100 your font remained the same?
doing what i said made a huge difference in the appearance of mine.
Did you really notice no change to the text etc?
or did you just assume it doesn't work?
Every complaint I've read that actually says anything other than 'retina support please' refers to the font being jagged and blurry
If the two images i posted look the same on your computer, then obviously the retina image is no longer blurry etc
Ableton is set by default to open in 'low resolution mode' on mpb's
open the 'get info' tab of the application to confirm this

Re: Update LIVE 9 for RETINA !!!
Left is this thread, right is Live. Don't you see how bad fonts in Live are?
And here's Operator next to M4L LFO. Still no difference?

Re: Update LIVE 9 for RETINA !!!
^ that's fucked up right there.
Re: Update LIVE 9 for RETINA !!!
At this point this looks more modern than Live:
