Placebo?

Feed your instrument tracks a -10 to -40 cent PB offset looking at spectrum and tuner until you hit desired result. Duplicate on all tracks then you have 432 calibration.
This is insufficient. Now you're just at 432Hz equal temperament. We're looking to modify both the reference frequency and the temperament to resonant frequencies. Every single note must be modified because the geniuses at Ableton hardcoded them.

To stop playing games:

A432Hz (C512Hz) Pythagorean tuning or Just Intonation is what we're shooting for.

Or, here is the initial request:
Not sure if this has been requested, but a Global Tuning which would allow A at 432Hz instead on 440Hz, along with different tempered scales such as the option to choose between Pythagorean and Equal Tempered... I realize that a M4L patch can achieve some of this, but it would be a better implementation in Global Parameters, such as how Logic does it

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. You might be interested in getting outboard Korg or Roland module. Both have really good microtuning features, JV-1080 series is a go to rack for this kind of stuff, especially for bel/pad type sounds. Also it might behoove you to get Korg Legacy Collection which M1 and Wavestation have microtuning built in. I own both and they have a wonderful sound pallet that rivals almost any pack offering, just needs some of your own programming and you can put each instance in its own Instrument chain. You can microtune all intervals, set a root note then offset that root note to 432.

Also use Resonator Audio Effect for drones at desired tempered frequency for alost any input root note.

Not interested in more gear. I really just want my $800 software package to include this basic, basic feature.

At some point, a decision was made to hard code the software to A440Hz equal temperament. Why?

How I wish those screenshots were a real thing in Live right now. Ableton is hands down the most creative program & this feature would open up so many more doors. It's implemented very well in Logic, but I just don't want to go back to Logic (Apple has dropped the ball with Logic I think)...

In the meantime, maybe I can try to learn enough M4L to write such a patch, but it's such a complex program for me to grasp in many ways. But it might be the best option for now...

I'd like global tuning to try this, but I think in the case of Ableton the reason it would be most useful would be for playing with musicians or ensembles with less precise tuning, such as an african drumming group, or any situation where it's not feasible to ask everyone to get out their tuner. It probably makes more sense with Live than any other DAW.

Wow, awesome catch Forge!

And I totally agree, if there's one DAW where it'd makes sense, it's Live...

I was a bit disturbed to hear that the A=432hz tuning resonates with nature better than 440hz because now I wander if the music I've made has all been a bit off. Then I looked at some more M-theory and saw that equal temperament is also a bit suspect! So I looked some more and found that Hermode tuning helps a lot with this..but unfortunately your DAW doesn't support it. Would you like to use cubase or logic? no, not really, I would have to learn from scratch, and I prefer Ableton and I don't have the coin to buy a new DAW for one feature.

But on the other hand waiting for Ableton to get Hermode tuning might take a wile. Im trying to figure out if it can be done thru Scala but I don't see Hermode anywhere, I just see 'Just intonation'. I feel a bit let down by Ableton. Why did the update I waited for, for five years, mostly bring a wavetable synth? We all have a wavetable synth that cost us money? Massive has been out for like 15 years. I like Ableton. Always have. I just don't understand, if all Ableton customers are all out of tune, won't the customers get upset with Ableton for not saying anything? I could be way off here, I do love Ableton, And I don't have the brain or cash to see the big picture, but it seems like this is more important that making a new effect or synth.

Please add a global tuning.
I want to play with a piano. It's tuned 442Hz. Live is a music software, isn't it ? Well, music means playing with musicians, doesn't it ?

Hello,

Anything new regarding the global tuning?
