Proper AU mono/stereo support

Post by lvivski » Fri Nov 07, 2014 12:58 am

Logic Pro X doesn't allow you to insert a stereo (not mono->stereo) version of a plugin onto a mono track, which is a good thing. And after you insert it you can definitely see, that this particular plugin doesn't have any stereo options now.

Ableton Live 9 doesn't really care about mono/stereo AU for most plugins (I only see "mono" versions for some of FabFilter plugins).

I do understand, that it's not possible to limit user selection due to the nature of live's plugin browser, but it would be nice to see both plugin versions on the same list.

It may not be a big issue, but I don't get how can stereo saturator/eq/compressor behave on a mono track, will it become a stereo track, or will it keep its mono nature (it depends on plugin developers, I guess), so I can't fully control my mix and get what I need.
