A B L E T O N - DUAL GPU SUPPORT ! ! !

Post by Silversix » Wed May 25, 2016 1:43 am

Hi Ableton techs,

I run a brand new 8 Core Apple Mac Pro (cylinder model) with dual D500 GPU's, and using two displays, a 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display and a 2016 model 40" Samsung UHD LED (both only at 1440p) and this still results in laggy visual/graphics in full screen spectrum, track meters & 3rd party plugin visuals (such as VU meters etc) occasionally.

I feel Ableton 10 (or an additional update in 9 would be ace) really needs to utilise the power of running dual GPU's, especially now that a lot of professional computers are coming with two GPU's as standard.
Although powerful, one GPU is running both the displays and all the computing graphics, whilst the other sits there just idle

Seems like a very big waste and Ableton (and other programs) could really increase their performance for a lot of users.
Please consider writing the next Ableton to utilise dual GPU's for all the professionals out there.

Thanks,

Ben

This sounds like a good idea to me.
