Why is it still not possible to freeze sidechain-tracks?

Post by vido » Thu Sep 13, 2018 11:13 pm

This is beyond my reasoning.

It should at least be an option to freeze both the track that is the "sidechainer" and the track that is the "sidechainee".

Some kine of possibility of freezing in time with how the "sidechainer"-track was at the point of freezing.

Anyway: some workaround hopefully will be made - I mean freezing almost has no function to me when it cant be done on sidechained tracks..

If you only want to freeze the sidechained track it still could be an option to bounce the signal right before the sidechain device and only make the devices on the left of that device uneditable.
If the side-chain device is in a rack that has more than one chain the signal at the input of that chain is bounced and the mixer of the rack is still editable even if it is (only visually) on the left of the sidechain device. Of course, if that rack is the first device it doesn't make any sense and in the case of an instrument rack, it's not even possible to freeze because you would have to bounce raw MIDI signals. So, in that case, you should get an error message telling you why you can't freeze the track and what you would have to change to do that.
Alternatively, it would be possible to freeze one file per chain.

This would really be a GREAT option. I don't see why it shouldn't be possible. For example, give an option to freeze multiple tracks. Like, ok my bass is sidechained to my kick so I can't freeze it. Well freeze them both then!!
