Ableton Notation / Score Editor
Ableton Notation / Score Editor
Hey everyone,
One of the main features I would like to see is a Notation / Score functionality, that uses the midi data and maps it onto a visible, adjustable score in simple, pragmatic ways.
LiveScore (from MAXscore) is a step in the right direction, but often it misses notes, is buggy, and could improve UI. Ableton could work with the basis of LiveScore to develop this. I currently use Sibelius and export/import files, but it is not optimal. ProTools (utilizing Sibelius), Cubase, and Logic all have this integrated.

It could be built into Live or a purchasable Pack. Would definitely increase the utility of Live for those inclined to compose with notation.

I'd second that. There are some of us who still like to look at notation!

piano roll is totally unhelpful for visualizing harmonic relationships, it would heartening if the ableton team could see that.

+1! both for inputting and exporting
Re: Ableton Notation / Score Editor
A built-in music notation editor would be very helpful. This is the main thing keeping us from committing to Ableton and going to Live Suite right now. Because of this lack, we are still looking at Ableton's competition. We would really like to go with Ableton. Please consider adding this basic tool.
Re: Ableton Notation / Score Editor
I agree, - it would be great to have notation as part of Ableton. Its such a basic thing, and is stopping me from being able to wholeheartedly use ableton.
PS The 'Bach' max object are fantastic, in a very different way, and I use them a lot, but they can't take the place of a direct ableton midi/notation interface.

T'would be nice, but I wouldn't hold my breath. There are too many ways to scratch that itch. I'd lobby for comprehensive MIDI song output before notation.

OP doesn't like it, but for people that don't know, Livescore is free (it used to be paid) and can be downloaded from here:
