Do you mean adding single effects or effects chains to individual clips as opposed to an entire track? If so, yes, great idea!

Totally possible today:

1, Automate the effect on/off via clip envelope
2, Use ClyphX Pro and write into the clip name to activate / deactivate the effect.

Cheers

You even don't need ClyphX to do this now.
The Idea behind is to make live easier, and workflow faster....
More live, so to say

(Sorry, I didn't see yours before posting...)

S4racen, isn't the plugin loaded all the time with your solution with ClyphX Pro?
I mean if you have a large number of devices that you need to change between...

This would be awesome.
I use Multitrack files on stage. Many of them are the original studio tracks by the artists we cover (worship music).
More than often the drums stem is without processing and I have to throw some EQ and compression on it. But every track needs different settings. It wouldn't be suitable to EQ and compress the tracks, because this would affect all the drums stems in the same manner. With clip FX or clip racks I could just throw the effects on some clips with different settings without automation.

Throw in and forget. Clip off, FX(Rack/Chain)/Instrument (Rack/Stack) off
Close to no CPU Usage..
That's the idea behind.
I use rack in rack and clip envelope automation to do this. Also Clypher could do it, if there is an on/off script.
But it is so much easier and faster to use this kind of object oriented FX/Instrument racks.
This should work for all kind of clips, even dummy clips for audio inputs.
Have you heard about Elektrons killerfeature Parameter-Locks?
Imagine every Scene as a Step or a Snapshot without mapping or code scripting etc.

Be faster, live is a shortcut...
