Audio Unit v3 (AUv3) Live support for Mac
Audio Unit v3 (AUv3) Live support for Mac
Hey,
I'm currently developing an Audio Unit for MacOS, with the Audio Unit v3 (AUv3) plugin format.
My plugin works fine with GarageBand, Logic but Live don't want to open it.
After some search it seems that Live is not supporting AUv3 but only Auv2, but I'm not 100% sure as Ableton does not say it clearly in their docs.
Does anyone know if AUv3 is supported, or will be supported in Live ?
I hope that the Live 10.1 update, coming soon, will brings this support.. finger-crossed!
Thanks
Aurelien

Personally, I haven't even heard of AU v3 until now.
VST3 support is coming with 10.1.

No, it’s for both iOS and macOS.

I didn't know that! Is that since Apple Silicon? Or am I mixing things up? What's the iOS plugins' format name?

AUv3 is simply the version 3 of the Audio Unit API. Incidentally, it was the first version able to run on iOS a couple of years back, so that’s probably where the confusion is coming from.
I’d love to see AUv3 support in Live as well. As long as the developer allows it, AUv3 plugins for iOS run on M1 Macs. Quite a number of great plugins are already available, including the excellent Model 15 from Moog. As it happens, the latter is also running on Intel Macs.
I think it’s reasonable to expect that the number of AUv3 plugins will continue to grow, and I’d love to use them in Live.

Just wanted to bring this up as a topic again.
I'D also appreciate AUv3 support.
Thanks

I just finally bought Ableton yesterday and I am really disappointed I can't use my Model 15 or Animoog Z plugins.
Moog support is really throwing shade this way when I was researching the issue. AUv3 has been out for more than 4 years now.

Go to centercode and see if this has been suggested. If it has, upvote. If it hasn’t make the suggestion. +1 on general principles.

Yes please, I'm loving the Animoog Z and wish I could use it within Live instead of Logic.
