Plugin-Manager

Post by Elias57 » Thu Apr 04, 2019 6:12 am

ok, we can organize plugins with favorites, but for me it's not very comfortable.
Organize VSTs within the VST folder is a technology from the last century :D

A manager like in Studio One, Logic or Cubase.

Hi I heard about your topic so i deleted mine and pasted my discussion to yours.

"I would Like an update with more than 7 colors to sort my plugins. I have so many plugins and I want to have them sorted.

This is how I manage my plugins at the moment.

Red: Synthesizers
Orange: Audio/FX/Kick/Bass/Filter
Yellow: Compression/Saturation/Distortion
Green: Delay/Reverb/Resonation/Flanger
Blue: EQ/Dynamics/Phase/Spread/Transient
Purple: Gain/Limiters
Grey: Mastering

Maybe I am doing this wrong so if there is another way please let me know. What I want is more colors or another way to sort my plugins. A plugin manager like in Cubase would be nice.

Thank You."

i posted similar and merge it here:

ableton crew , i want to ask if you can include a function to

1. display all installed/included add ons, like vst, vst3, AU, amxd, ens
2. sort them in a list (so the stay where they are installed, for example ECHOBOY stays in the SOUNDTOYS folder, but in the manageri can put it in a ECHOS&DELAYS folder.
3. move them (so my re-order in the manager really moves the plugins into new folders, for example there is really a ECHOS&DELAYS folder then created inside my vst folder, into which ECHOBOY is moved then )
4. also the VERSION and date of installment is displayed

â
for me this would be a great feature, since i got many plugins and
1. the sorting differs from vst to vst3 to au
2. i get a much better overview about - for example - "ALL EQUALIZERS" or "ALL COMPRESSORS" and this has an influence on creativity
3. i much better have on overview about the VERSION currently installed
4. a short description could be included, so i know for example, what ENSEMBLE for REAKTOR does what

ps though rumour says different, AUs CAN be sorted
there is a tool called AUGANIZER

but this function should be included in an ableton file management like i posted above

Has there been any word on a solution for plugin management in Ableton?
I've recently transitioned from FLS and this is by far the first roadblock I've hit in terms of workflow organization.

Ableton Crew:

Ableton Live definitely needs a plugin manager, specially because of the VST3 plugings. VST3 plugins can't be custom organized because they are always being organized by manufacturer regardless of the folder structure where the VST3 plugings reside, which is the opposite of how VST2 files are organized. And being forced to use a limited list of 7 colors to sort them, or to be forced to put each vst in an effect/instrument rack to be able to organize them is just unacceptable.

Please add a plugin manager to solve this issue.

Yup, bumping this. My plugs are really well organised in Cubase. I can select different projects, folders, sub folders, so I can access those plugs I want to use for whatever project I'm working on really quickly and easily. Right now, it's kinda basic.

Yes, I know I COULD create my own folders and do it using shortcuts but that's a really cludgy way of doing it.

Whole-heartedly agree.
Many DAWs like PreSonus StudioOne nail this perfectly.
Ableton, by contrast, feels like Windows 95

I was hoping the Live 11 announcement would add a plugin manager. Even something similar to Live Enhancement Suite's plugin picker would work.

I am actual okay with this current solution to just select stuff after
1. FX(VST, Ableton FX devicesMax4Live FX devices)
2. Synths (VSTi), it seems to work pretty well
3. MIDI FX devices other MIDI related stuff

and i find stuff in a like 100 plugins.

and Samples, MIDIs, I dont even need favs, but it could be for Sylenth1, Q3, stuff i always use.

i would like this too

currently im trying to stick to vst2 because i can get some organization with custom folders but some are au and some are vst3 and its not possible without using the "color favorites"
