I was about to attempt to create two MIDI tracks with no instrument devices. I envisioned grouping those two MIDI tracks and sending that whole group of MIDI data to another track that contains an instrument. That doesn't seem to work since as soon as MIDI tracks are grouped, it's assumed they are going to send an audio signal to the group. I then I assumed I could place one instrument device ON the group. I can not. The group is not designed to receive or send MIDI. I can only place audio FX there because it assumes I will place instrument devices on the MIDI clips (I will not).
Feature Wishlist:
Groups that can consolidate MIDI tracks and maintain MIDI control through that group track. Offering the ability to send all that MIDI data elsewhere OR even the ability to place MIDI FX on a group.

Re: Grouping MIDI tracks as a MIDI group, not audio
Strangely the way to solve this problem requires the additional step of creating a separate MIDI track and then sending MIDI data to that from other tracks. This should be built into the group.
