Wasapi support for Windows
Wasapi support for Windows
Here is a new topic on Ableton Centercode which might be better noticed by Ableton team. You can also vote for features so please register/go there and vote for WASAPI:

We need Wasapi driver support for Windows.
Sometimes mobile musician needs to use Ableton without external audio interface. Currently the only way to achieve low latency with internal soundcard is by downloading Asio4All drivers from internet. If you use Ableton with Asio4All you cannot use audio in other programs, for example to watch youtube tutorials on music making.
Wasapi is pretty low latency and you can still use both DAW and youtube simultaneously. And to be honest after Ableton being 13-15 years or so in the market should at this stage be able to offer a solution that is integrated to Live so that user doesn't have to do extra downloads.

Pro tip:: Download fl studio and get FL ASIO driver. (I guess you can uninstall FL Studio then).
Some other audio softwares comes with similar solution but it's always good to have it integrated.

Re: Wasapi support for Windows
Wasapi is the default device in Windows for a long time when you use onboard sound. I did not understood why Ableton does not support it. Bitwig, Reaper, Studio One, Cubase all the main DAW have it. In Ableton you have the choice of the shitty AISO4ALL which only allow one audiosource at the same time or you must install FLASIO which is intern a wrapper around Wasapi.
Wasapi is so great. Low Latency on onboard soundcards which multi sound sources in shared mode at the same time(browser, vlc, daw). And the api is many many years default in windows system.
Why does Ableton not support the default audio api on Windows?

Re: Wasapi support for Windows
i would love to see this support too
Re: Wasapi support for Windows
I came from Reaper, but my new MIDI controller came with Ableton and has a tight integration with it.
However, the lack of WASAPI support (together with the blurry font) makes me go back to Reaper despite missing the integration. This makes it unworkable in Ableton.
A real pitty since WASAPI was already introduced in Windows Vista, so must be around for about 15 years now.
I think they had plenty of time to implement it if they wanted to. So, I don't think we should hold our breaths for it.

Re: Wasapi support for Windows
Sorry, but this just isn't true. I do it all the time on my laptop with no audio interface connected. In fact, I commonly record sound effects and nature sounds from YouTube into Live this way. I use the ASIO drivers for the soundcard in my laptop, rather than ASIO4ALL, so you might need to check for drivers for your soundcard.
Check your sample rate settings between Live and Windows. They have to match. In most cases, this will fix the situation.

Yes please Ableton - please add support for WASAPI - it's only a matter of time!

Coming from OSX/Mac, having a dedicated internal low latency soundcard is really essential for using Live on the go.

WASAPI works great in Bitwig and Studio One, much better than Asio4All.

Re: Wasapi support for Windows
I switched to Ableton not too long ago from the Free Cakewalk software and couldn't quite believe that Ableton didn't include support for WASAPI. Its so much better than ASIO 4 all etc.
Re: Wasapi support for Windows
Ableton really needs to support WASAPI.
We don't all want to use a MAC and WASAPI is far better and sable than ASIO4all.

Re: Wasapi support for Windows
Are there finally plans out to getting support for the standard audio interface on Windows(WASAPI)?
