Ableton live support for ARA 2
Re: Ableton live support for ARA 2
+1E99 for ARA 2 support.
I am trying to use Ableton Live more but ARA 2 is simply a must for me and the continued lack of it is unexplainable. I started using Ableton Suite in version 10 last year when I got it with Push 2. I was in shock when I found it didn't have ARA 2. Of course Ableton Live 11 is a great tool BUT ARA 2 needs to be included.
The ARA 2 technology is a must if you work with vocals and that is why people bother to edit vocals in another DAW with ARA 2 and bring the result back to Ableton Live. It is THAT important.
I wish the best to Ableton and hope I can stay many years using Live.
Please implement ARA 2 as soon as possible.

Adding my voice. I really don't like DAW juggling just to use a common feature.

This is the missing feature that keeps me from sticking to Ableton... It really is a pain in the ass to juggle Melodyne with Live. Seriously all competitors offer ARA. Please consider this for Live 11.1!

"Please, please, please, let me get what I want" (Morrissey).
I've just started working with Ableton Live Suite 11 and wanted to use Melodyne. And now I found out that Live does not support ARA 2. That was a big disappointment.
I don't want to switch the DAW just because of that. So please .....

Re: Ableton live support for ARA 2
I don't know much about ARA, other than that it makes Melodyne pitch editing easier--which would be great, so I'm a +1 for adding it.
but having quality, integrated pitch editing would be way more appealing to me. I've used Digital Performer for it, and it's excellent, and even Reason has fairly good pitch editing (though it definitely struggles sometimes). I'm not a huge fan of having to use a third party plugin for pitch editing--it always seems at least a little clunky to me.
I'd love to have both, so people can use whatever works best for them.

I have used the integrated pitch editing in Cubase as well as Reason and that indeed makes for an even better workflow than an ARA 2-plugin like Melodyne.slow.robot wrote: ↑Sun May 02, 2021 4:00 pmbut having quality, integrated pitch editing would be way more appealing to me. Dear Ableton, please provide ARA 2 support as soon as possible. Daw switching is a real workflow killer!! I am using Melodyne studio.
Re: Ableton live support for ARA 2
Considering that many other DAW support it, including the cheaper $60US DAW Reaper, I too would like to see ARA support in Ableton.
In the meantime, I found the easiest way to use Melodyne with Ableton, without having to "transfer", route, and rerecord the audio, is to use Melodyne as Ableton's default sample editor.
To set Melodyne as the Sample Editor for Ableton Live in Mac OS:
In the menu bar, go to Live -> Preferences and click on the “File/Folder” tab.
Click “Browse” in the “Sample Editor” field.
Select “Melodyne located in your Applications folder and click “Open.”
To edit audio from Ableton Live in Melodyne:
Click “Edit” in the Clip View window in Session or Arrangement view. Your Clip will now automatically open in Melodyne
When your edits in Melodyne are complete, simply select File -> Replace Audio. Any changes made will now be reflected in your Live session.
Tip: To avoid overwriting the original clip, duplicate the clip, change the name and then "crop" or "consolidate" the clip. This will create a new sample clip. If you don't clip or consolidate first, even with the name changed, the original clip will be overwritten by what you do in Melodyne.

Re: Ableton live support for ARA 2
I can't remember if I signed this yet. So I'm signing it (again?) now. Now that comping is in 11, ARA 2 support is all that's left on my wish list.
