Insert FX between channel output and the send input

Post by bishbo2000 » Tue Aug 31, 2021 3:28 am

It would be nice to have the option of adding an effect between the output of a channel and the input of the send. This way I can have a way of processing the signal I am sending to the send/return, without having it effect the channel itself, or the return channel. One example would be... I would like to add some volume modulation (automated) in the send so effectively the send is becoming stronger and weaker. Or it could be an auto filter sweeping the signal before it reaches the input of the return channel.
Another use would be having a compressor softening the transient before the signal reaches a reverb. This way I wouldn't need an extra reverb return channel with the compressor in it.

hope this makes sense.

1. Create a new audio track. Name it “FX Inserts” or something similar.
2. Set its audio output to Sends Only
3. Set its audio input to the source track, and set the FX Insert track’s Monitor switch to IN.
4. Add the FX you wish to have between the source track and the send into the “FX Inserts” track.
5. Use the sends on the “FX Inserts” track to send to your return track.

Job done. :)
