Browser accounting

Post by J_R » Fri Apr 15, 2022 5:25 am

Since, prior to operating Ableton (when one is typically at the bottom of the training curve) and when well into the program (when one's forgotten what he didn't know back in phase 1 and the physical location of Browser items has become a black box) one wants to know and maintain an orderly (Win) Explorer arrangement of Ableton plug-ins...

I'd like to see a way one can ask Ableton for a Browser Accounting. It might specify the computer location (name, size, etc.) of all the files, presets, etc. one's included in the browser. The output could be as a .txt file; .html; etc.

This might help solve computer cleanup and migration issues (if one's planning on reformatting the computer), a quick way to show others your item arrangement, way to know what you have stored in Ableton and what you might temporarily get rid of for latency purposes, etc.

I'd be curious what others think of this.
