More creative MIDI devices

Post by MallorcaMalle » Thu Jun 30, 2022 6:34 am

I'd love to see more creative devices like these in Ableton:

https://reasonstudios.com/blog/making-t ... sequencer/
https://reasonstudios.com/blog/crew/generating-bass/

Especially in comination with the Push hardware i.m.o. this would be soooo great!

While Ableton dont emphasize their midi effects like Reason, Max4Live have a bunch of midi effects.

They have a website that offers alot of free devices.

The GUis can be a bit of a turnoff but some cool devices.

I personally hope Ableton would put more resources in Piano Roll and other Common Core Daw improvements over dedicated M4L devices for one or a few specific tasks, but they should continue to improve upon M4L integration and add devices when they see fit. Personally I would love the following:

1. Bigger M4L GUIs which arent restricted to Abletons mini device view, (sort of like Wavetable, EQ8).

2. Integration of M4L tools in Ableton piano roll. That would really open Abletons midi editor up.

Jepp indeed there are a couple of really useful M4L devices. Many more of them are not that useful and often look... "uninspiring". So i.m.o. in the M4L realm one often finds quantity over quality. Of yourse you may find exactly what you need and of sufficient quality.

I would prefer new creative Ableton stock MIDI plugins that are well designed by Ableton devs and designers, work seamlessly with Push hardware, are beta tested by many producers, have optimised C++ code, have a pleasing and well-layed-out GUI like most of Ableton's stock devices have now. Examples could be a creative chords or bassline generator.
