pulling the loop end marker PAST the end of the audio file

Post by datagroove » Wed Feb 12, 2003 1:25 am

big benefit here!! (IMO)

sometimes i design a loop with unnecessary blank space at the end because the loop sounds best not repeated so often. (you follow? cous this is important)..

well how easy YET SATISFING would it be for me not to have to waste hard disk space and instead add emply play time to the end of a clip in live

ofcorse its more for those that use the session/jaming view then those that primarly work in the arrange view.

God! i keep dreaming of this :)

i agree. that sounds like an easy way to insert silence before and after a clip without rendering.

I completely agree.

I've started re-recording all of my loops with several bars of blank space for more control during live sets.

Although one cool thing is that by moving the repeat bar around, you can sometimes get nice little fills on drum loops.

It would be nice if that was automatable as well.

I second (sixth?) the notion. It would be espescially useful when you record a clip live and don't really have the opportunity to run it through Peak or what not real quick to add that extra space.
Do it!

i thought of that, too... but wouldn't it be abit tricky?

i mean Live would have to be able to "insert silence" on the file itself, so as you drag the end markers it would have to pause, edit the file, and then let you get on with it. and the more you fidget with it (letting go, then clicking again) the more time it would take.

or do you suggest it just loops on "nothing" for awhile? im not sure if that's possible, one for the programmers, i guess. but i do agree, it would be handy...
