No joke.......

A quicker way to zoom in and out (auto centering at the mouse-over point) is a must have

better zooming options for sure. But the mouse scroll? I like when zooms are controlled by pressing a key modifyer while dragging a box to define the desired zoomed area. if the 'box' held the dimensions of the screen while dragging, etc.

everybody likes to do things differently. in a perfect world we would have every zoom option available in a single program.
however (and for the sake of this thread), I will say that for me personally, out of the plethora of different programs I have used over all of these years, scroll wheel zooming is by far the fastest and most efficient tool for lightning fast audio editing. I have been using Reaper a lot lately because of it's native scroll wheel zooming and it's high resemblance to all of the old Sonic Foundry products that I used to love so much.

I remember having a 3rd party add on for Live called Vitmain L or something that would actually add lots of shortcuts and expanded control features to Live, including mouse-wheel zooming. Anyone tried it lately or know if it works with Live 8??

I just noticed:
below the overview, but above the arrangement, that little grey area....
move your mouse there, behold the looking glass,
click+hold+drag = zoom zoom zoom!

but yeah thorough mousewheel implementation throughout all the menus and whatnots is of the essence!
