Arrange View: Scrub and other navigation forms.

Post by webslave » Wed Oct 05, 2005 1:15 pm

I'm having to do some heavy weight arrangement and having come from a inteface background am more cynical than most with it comes to interface design.

Two major things about arrange - it really really needs some kind of scrub option (see sound forge 8 for very good example) and the navigator at the top when dragged should move the speed of the mouse - not it's own often sedate speed.

The 'drag and move' option at the bottom results in too small a move to make it practicle - it essentialy is a poor mans' scroll bar.

Oh and mouse zoom is near the top of most folks list as well, same here.

Cheers

I agree! using the scrollwheel was suggested earlier on...that would work the best IMO.

why not just push down the middle mouse button and have a chance to scroll everywhere, up, down, left and right??? ctrl+mid mouse would be zooming in-out etc.

these (navigation) problems are very well resolved in 3D editing environments, take a close look ableton guys :)

but Live is 2D so it would be MUCH simpler.

i think the navigation in arrangement should have a very serious makeup in the next version(s).
