logarithmic volume envelopes?

Post by chrs » Mon Dec 12, 2005 5:47 pm

I'm always finding myself meticulously editing my volume envelopes to get them to fade in and out logarithmicly as opposed to linearly. Any word from the Abletons if there'll be an easy implementation of logarithmic volume envelopes?

For those who don't know what i'm talking about, here's the difference:

this was made in Adobe Audition, for those who are curious.

would anyone else like this feature?

Bézier curve control of all envelopes would be great!

A few of us brought it up at the Ableton Camp. I particular need it for smooth lighting curves and ease-ins/outs for beat-matched moving light panning/tilting, and video effects automated in Live.

yeah, I often manipulate my volume automation like nuts on midi samples for vsts to get that sidechained "pulsing" sound without all the hassle :P it offers a lot more control than actually using a sidechain. if we had curves, it could sound even more awesome with half the work.

hopefully implementation of this wouldn't be too difficult, because it'd make my year with this program :D
