Just a follow up on a thread in the general forum. Anyone writing anything other than dance music could use this feature.

I agree I was just about to post the same thing when I read that post.

Something like the tempo change in scenes, maybe being able
to define a global time signature change in the same way.

I agree, but for the time being, 1/4 solves most of my time sig issues. Just need to be a bit more carefull about timing when it comes to triggering stuff.

Yeah, that would make live more suitable for musicians which combine signatures....
Video and that would make my list complete.

ok, i could use a very easy and cpu-friendly bread and butter sampleplayer for standard sounds. I know - there are plenty on the market, though....

Not to hijack the thread... I would appreciate the ability to build a time signature map as well, but what I'd REALLY REALLY like is the ability to sync time signature in Live with the Time Signature (and tempo) map in my rewire master app (in my case, Cubase SX) too.

I'm still using Live v2. Why? Because it still works, and this is the only feature that would make me pay for an upgrade.

Howsaboutit, Ableton? Any official word?? Pretty please?

Yeah. What y'all said amplified what I said. 1/4 does kind work, but it's a PITA and a kludged workaround for something that might as well work properly and should have been implemented correctly in the first place. I heard that it's on the work table but, as is Ableton's custum, no announcements or promises will be made. We got to pressurize 'em.

I agree completely we need this feature, and it needs to be implemented on a "scene" level just like tempo, not just in arrangement. I need to have meter changes within a set while I'm performing, not just in recorded tracks.

Yeah! Sinature Automation would be really nice but what about tempoautomation? If you don´t use the session-view it´s nearly impossible to get exact values for this. Let´s say I want to change the tempo from 120 to 140 on the 16th beat, and not using any clips through the sessionview. Well, then it´s impossible. I have to settle for 140.56 or some else crazy value and I have to sit and try to draw out a straight line in the automation window. This feels so 1995.

it's not impossible. in record mode, just enter 140 into the tempo and hit return. it will be saved as a master tempo envelope

also you never have to draw a straight line. just turn off pen mode, make two envelope points and drag one. you'll still get 140.56 though.

however, if you did my first suggestion, then deleted one of the envelope points, you'd be left with a smooth ramp to your new exact tempo, beginning whenever you hit return and ending whenever you stopped recording.

maybe a little weird but it works fine.

Add me to the people wanting time signature automation please. That would be nifty, and it would be another thing that I could do in Ableton instead of Logic.
