sysex handling
lots of hardware use sysex...
is there any reason in the program concept or architecture not to include system exchange handling?

Its really time to improve SysEx Support. And the next plz plz show us more than 127 Midicontrolnumbers.
Example my Virus have 3 Pages and i see only the first Page in Live.
Of course the second and third Page send SysEx.
Thats the next Problem. Most Hardwaresynths or Vst support more than 127 Midicontrolnumbers.I wish me SysEx Support and show more than 127 Midi CC

Sysex, program changes, stable controller mapping, the whole lot of midi information. It all needs to be made rock solid and easily usable. I'm sure their must be some hurdles since they started as an audio app and not midi but Live would be unstoppable if it had it's midi stuff worked out tight.V1rus wrote:Its really time to improve SysEx Support. And the next plz plz show us more than 127 Midicontrolnumbers.

3ghz Pentium 4 (Prescott), XP Sp2, 1gig Ram, Dual Monitor with Matrox Millenium, MOTU Traveler, Event EZ8 Adat card. Also IBM THinkpad t40 1.6 1 gig ram
I'm not. All the sysex is used for automapping protocols.TOTAL wrote:Let's hope you're right, but I'm not sure about it. It's a big surprise it is still not implemented.hoffman2k wrote:They must have this in Live 6.
Live already sends and receives sysex for those automapping controllers.
Maybe Live 7...
Live is already capable of sending and receiving sysex. But not for user specific tasks yet.
I imagine they're probably working on a decent section in the interface to add a sysex editor of some sorts.

I doubt any plugins use sysex (well none in my experience anyway). It's a way to control external MIDI devices, although an important element of the MIDI protocol.mbncp wrote:Thanks for the info ... but big disappointment, I really need these sysex in my plug.

I know the more votes statistically looks better, but I think people posting uninformed comments will just look to the developers like "me too" type statements, which will largely be ignored.
loads of my gear relies on realtime sysex to make it come alive; Roland Juno1, Korg DW8000, Roland U220, etc etc... Be good if we had a sysex manager where people could write their own sysex maps, share them etc.
This feature alone would put Ableton up there with the pro apps like Logic & Cubase, but for now, it's seriously lacking in that department.
yes please
it would be very nice
