INTEL MAC PEOPLE NEED STUFF BAD

Post by womoma » Tue Jun 20, 2006 2:27 am

A half decent subtractive synth would be a god send for us intel maccers.

There really is very little choice for us right now in VST land as developers struggle to port their stuff.

Please Abes - a nice subtractive synth, or vastly improved simpler.

Discount on Operator would also be greatfully appreciated. I think there are many people along with myself who would buy Operator as part of an upgrade, if it was just a bit cheaper.

You've got:

Albino 2 (Albino 3 in a week or two)
Zebra 2
Automat
Dimension Pro
Rapture
Crystal
Fab Filter Twin
Symptohm
Blue
Arturia Prophet V
Virsyn Cube

That's already more than enough to do just about anything you could imagine. We are still missing a good sampler, but other than that we're already in pretty impressive shape. The *last* thing I want Ableton to waste time on is another bundled synthesizer. There are so many things in the app itself they could work on instead.

In total agreement. VSamp http://www.vsamp.com/ is almost ready for Universal Binary. and from what I can tell, I'm going to be using it more than Kontact, simply for it's almost zero CPU use. :)

Also, Reason runs extremely well on the new Macs. You could get by pretty well with just Reason and Live.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty happy with Live 5 as it is, I'd just rather see Ableton focus on the things that only they can do. I can always fill in the gaps with third party plugins. If I wanted a host with a bunch of great native plugins and a stagnant interface and workflow I'd use Logic.

First of all, I agree that the Abes don't need to work on another synth, especially with 6 around the corner.

However,

If you read the guys post, he said INTEL mac people. Only a few of the synths that you mentioned have been ported to UB yet, so feel for the guy. I will hopefully be there with him, but I plan on getting logic with my Macbook so I will have plenty to play with.

Best,

To quote myself
a nice subtractive synth, or vastly improved simpler.
I dont think thats much to ask for. Actually Ill go one further, I expect Ableton to vastly improve Simpler.

I don't care at all about synths in Live but I *would* like to see them improve impulse and simpler. The workflow of just dragging clips from session or arrange directly into impulse or simpler is brilliant and can't be replicated in third party plugins.
