Fears of 6....

Post by astaplatz » Sat Jul 15, 2006 10:36 am

Hiya, several wish posts later, the all anticipated live 6 announced! but,... will my biggest wishes be addressed?
:?:

It looks like we have a proper file manager appearing, maybe I'll stop saving files in the wrong folder soon!!! youpie!
:P

does anyone know if any of the following wishes will be compelted in 6?

1 program changes
can I finally send program changes now, or at least map a cc/note to browse through presets?? this is so essential [so i can, for example, load a new impulse kit via midi]
:-(

2 midi input on effects
my vocoder and filter effect is still waiting to be used... when will i be able to send midi to an audio track's effect???

3 track specific clip controls
pitch, warp, loop in out points for most recently activated clip [select on launch] and/or for specific tracks

4 midi commands to select currently playing clip

5 freeze multiple tracks in one click
a minor one, yes, but would save lots of hand-holding time. deep freeze is a welcome addition

6 envelopes on returns in session view

7 midi data shared on audio objects so i can send/control midi from audio session strips and vice versa

8 new clip mode: "play to end when stop" when loop mode is active - instead of just stopping

praying and hoping...

seb.

1. yes. Ableton has an alternative to program changes. Device racks allow you to switch between devices.

2. Possible in Live 5

5. yes!!!

as for the rest. It's still in alpha...

please explain 2 then cause I still have not figured it out!

put an effect, like the NI vocoder on an audio strip or midi strip, now try and control the vocoder using a keyboard... there is no MIDI input i can see...
?

and in number 1: can I use MIDI commands to switch programs now? would be very-very welcome!

2. http://sonictransfer.com/vocoder-tutori ... live.shtml

1. There's a new approach now which is kind hard to explain. It simply lets you switch between several instances of a plugin.

wrt vocoder: nice! thanks for that.

this solves 50% of the issue... but what about routing midi notes to the vocoder? this workaround only lets me route audio via the audio bus. Any relief on the MIDI front...?

When you throw a midi-in plugin on an audio track. The audio track will be available as a destination.
