midi assign enable/disable sends

Post by D K » Wed Oct 11, 2006 6:00 am

i would really love to be able to control the send on/off capability via midi.
simple idea, would really make a huge difference in options as far as live performance and use of fx.
it'd be ideal to have the option of having your send levels set and to be able to toggle the send on and off, as opposed to being limited to ramping volume levels up and down(or triggering via midi envelopes).
thanks!

Seems like a nice idea.

There's a straightforward workaround in the meantime -- Utility has a mute butten that can be midi assigned, stick one at the end (or beginning) of a track. Won't work for all purposes though (i.e. it will mute the whole track, so if you are sending to multiple things, and the send you want to mute is to a return track that receives multiple things, you can't do it without an intermediate send track that just holds the utility. Though come to think of it routing through such a track might be a nice way to turn on/off a bunch of things at once!)

+2 this would come in really handy for me as I use 7 sends and am constantly having to quickly up a send level on a channel while turning down the main fader at the same time. I've actually come to set toggle buttons on my midi controller with two values, 0 and *whatever I want the send value to be* but this would make the process so much better.

In fact just typing that I have come up with about 16 more uses for this fuction in my head. Please do this ableton :)
