images for clips (user defined jpgs working like asds maybe)
ok i'm suggesting this cuz i'm a dj and i miss record sleeves.
just wanted to get that out first.
also, sorry if it's been suggested before, but the search function isn't finding anything.
..............................................................................
ok, the idea is to identify clips easier. so instead of having a cool little palette of colors to stick on your clips (dj's still calling them tracks i hear...) we should be able to pick out an image (perhaps a piece of cover art or a label logo?) that the user can store on his hard drive like an .asd file.
so this would be a great option for everyone, especially the visual learners (object images are the most powerful mnemonic devices remember) and i imagine it would be just as easy to implement as the association between audio file and .asd (or mp3 and wave cache for that matter)
am i missing something? i don't know if this would work in the left side browser area, but should be easy enough in session view. of course it would mainly benefit the ableton dj (who DOESN'T miss flipping through their crates?!) but would hardly be limited to that use.
one thing i want to urge is to ignore the easy mp3 file image thing. that isn't gonna work. we need images for wav's!

I always thought it would be cool if jpgs could be saved as part of the ASD and shown in the help pane when browsing in the session view or browser.

ableton live image handling (cover art) support
Yes man, I'm with you !
And no DJ that grew up with vinyls can tell me, that he didn't just miss the "handling" of vinlys. I don't mean carrying them It's also the way you can organize and sort them.
joshuajames got it right: "... especially the visual learners (object images are the most powerful mnemonic devices remember)".
That's the most important thing to _quickly_ find your material.
But I would go a bit further as I would like to have something like "virtual recordcases", or just the possibility to tweak the browser a bit. Do you guys know if the Ableton UI is customizable or extendable ?
regards

+1
GREAT IDEA!
But I also dont like scrolling through menus, the tab key should still stay the same and just toggle between session and arrangement. Keep it simple.
To access this new DJ View you should have to do it from the top menu. So it does'nt get in the way of how Live functions as a sequencer.
