Q - How can I enjoy use Live 'live' when I cannot control the parameters I want to control?
A - Well it's a drag actually. I can do without Essential Instruments (ironically) but this is becoming a big issue.

This has gotta happen. They are obviously going down the DAW package route with Live 6,7. Don't see how a musician/producer would switch to live knowing that they cant automate their fav params. me i dont use too many VSTs so ive only hit this wall a few times - But I was Like "ah, you gotta be kiddin, come on Live!"
Well, Reaktor has the ability to rearrange its assignable parameters, so unless you need to use more than 128 parameters in any one session you'll be good. But I do reckognize the fact that for something like a performance interface one would really just want to get at every parameter all the time.Macrostructure wrote:add your crippled VSTs by name here....

I think the underlying problem may be much worse for me, personally;
I see the lack of OSC, sysex, 128+ parameter control, recording controls inside session view, lack of overdubbing of audio as things that do matter to me, but haven't been prioritized by Ableton... quietly chopping away at the foundation of what I would consider "needs" to a greater and greater extent in my everyday use of music software.
I still love Ableton Live of course, but every time I bump my head against the wall in these issues and then think of the dev. time put into integrating the AAS stuff and assembling gigs of drum samples in racks it does make me a bit sad, to be fair.
Yes, what you say Machinate, makes me think this too:
- Less add-on stuff, more in the included stuff, please. Thank you.
Operator & Sampler are good because they're genuine Ableton, but taking developing time to integrate 3rd party products into Live, and then making us pay for it... hmmmm. I really don't think they should pursue this route anymore.
To be competitive, next release has to address all the big requests from the users, like folder tracks, 128+ params, osc, all the workflow improvements etc, and probably throw in the suite products as part of the program - just look at Logic 8 today...
My 0.02$

I agree. It has been said that the even-numbered versions are the big upgrades...I hope this is true.djgroovy wrote:To be competitive, next release has to address all the big requests from the users, like folder tracks, 128+ params, osc, all the workflow improvements etc...
+1 to 128+ parameter control!
