Snap Automation points to Grid

Post by muzza23 » Sat Apr 10, 2004 11:33 am

it'd be wicked & very very handy if live had a simple toggle button on the arrange page that allowed u to snap those little automation dots to the grid... anyone agree?

while there is a snap to grid button... it seems to only effect work down to samples... not automation points.

Nope, it works for automation.

uhm, not after the fact though. You use it when writing automation.

I should clarify....

To clarify... It appears to not quantise at all in arrange mode for envelope automation. Is that a more correct statement? :)

When drawing automation in arrange mode, it most definately quantizes.

not when recording automation, tho. You wouldn't want that, right?
Y'know how that snap to grid button works, right? when it is on (yellow) it snaps to a grid relative to how far zoomed in you are. When it is grey, it snaps to the global quantize value.

Hmmmm, y'know, this might not work when you just double click on a part of the breakpoint envelope. What i usually do is select the time i want automation for, and then drag the automation line up or down, that automatically creates breakpoints at the start and end of the selection.

I didn't realize that you could select a time segment and do a drag up/down... yes this is quantized... since the selection is quantized...

However, when you double click on the envelope, it doesn't snap to any grid, which would be awfully nice.

Good to know about the selection though... I can certainly put that to good use for the time being :)
