wish : Elastique Pro algorithm
wish : Elastique Pro algorithm
Live has had the Elastique Efficient time-stretching algorithm for a while now (known as "complex" warp mode) . I think that Live should have 'pro' as it has a number of extra features and benefits.
I mean, if Reaper and FruityLoops can afford to license 'Pro' , surely you guys can do it? It seems a bit weak to have only the 'lite' version of the algo and fall behind the competition here.
As we don't have any offline timestretch in Live we could do with a slightly better 'online' one, especially now many people are getting more capable processors. Of course "efficient" is included in "pro" , so anyone with a lesser CPU wouldn't be discriminated against.
Go on, you know you want to.

+1 - good call Angstrom. Obviously the new specs haven't been announced as regards the audio engine in L7 but from the blurb:Angstrom wrote:I mean, if Reaper and FruityLoops can afford to license 'Pro' , surely you guys can do it? "Live 7's enhanced audio engine improves fidelity with precision 64-bit summing at all mix points throughout the program, POW-r dithering, optimized sample-rate conversion and other advances"
I'd imagine one major advance would be Elastique Pro - after all using a 64 bit engine to sum signals processed with a cut down algo seems, um, a bit daft
I don't think it will make it into L7, although there has been an upgrade to the engine, it is separate from the timestretching part.
Well, I can say for sure that the Betas do not have any new warp-modes in.
Perhaps Ableton still have a few surprises up their sleeves as far as little additions or re-arrangements, but I have no idea how hard or easy it is to add a new warp mode at this late stage in the Beta testing. My guess is that they won't do it though, just in case it adds a new problem.
I just thought I'd bring the issue up again, I have a few pet issues that I like to keep them near the top of the awareness pile.

Pro works realtime,

button marked, download Demo.
Pro also doe the monophonic formant shifting thing like melodyne.
the blurb on their site is just laughable though, hardly readable :
"Pro exceeds the high quality demands of professional productions and broadcast applications"
who the hell is it targeted at then, Aliens?
you can download a demo from their site - it's a just a little app that can load a wave file.Last but not least, all of this can be done in real-time on current CPUs.

maybe it is - apparently the aliens are freely walking down the streets of Japan unnoticed
that really sounds awesome to have formant shifting etc - big +1 from me then!
