Effect building app

Post by Fernando Carvalho » Wed Jun 02, 2004 11:56 am

If one of these days ableton decides to make another app I would like to see one for creating custom effects optimized for live. It could be similar to quantum-fx but you coul load the effects (and synths?) in the same way as you load the Live effects (just one window for editing, live style graphics...) I love Live effects, I need more and better, they are so good for sound design...

http://www.synthedit.com/

Check out synthedit, may be just what you're looking for.

They will be VST effects, not live "internal" ones, but you're just after the effect arent you?

making plugins....

Post by subbasshead » Sat Jun 12, 2004 4:23 am

or check out Max/MSP & pluggo
i've made a couple of plugins that i use in Live and in ProFools
& learnt an awful lot in the process about dsp etc
heres a link:
http://www.cycling74.com/

theres a bit of a learning curve
but if u know what u want to achieve its totally possible
& its object oriented so no actual code/language to learn
eg my first plugin was a filter/delay
which i prefer certainly to any of the delay plugins in ProStools
BTW why cant i use VST plugs when running LIVE as rewire slave?
anyone know?

I´m very interested in max and pluggo. Do you need pluggo for anything if you own max? I can´t use pluggo right now cause I´m working with PC, but I could buy Max...

yes
as i understand & use it, pluggo provides the runtime engine that my plugins use to do their thing.... i export quite a small patch from max/msp, drag & drop it on the pluggo maker app
then it needs pluggo installed in the host app to run
(pluggo runtime is a free download, for mac anyway)
check w cycling74 as to when pluggo PC is due

it may be possible to route out of LIVE thru max/msp & back into LIVE but i'm not too sure about that having not needed to do it....
max/msp is available as a fully fucntioning demo tho so u can check it out & see if that is true....
