Midi Sequencer does not record to clip or arrange

Post by technog0d » Mon Sep 21, 2009 1:01 am

I am not sure if it is something I am doing wrong, but here is the scenario...

- I created a midi sequencer that i control with my Lemur.
- Created a bunch of controls to control the sequencer over OSC
- Transport is stoled directly from the live.step example
- I place a VI after the sequencer object and turn Live's transport on
- sounds start playing perfectly
- I click a clip record. It indicates record, but records nothing
-Same thing happens in arrange

I am not sure if this is a bug yet, so i won't post a bug report before I know whether i am doing something wrong.

FYI, The Stepseq template that came with M4L had the same result.

Without more information of the usual bug-reporting type (machine, versions, patch that demonstrates the problem), we'd be playing 20 questions. More information will get you a better result.

I am running OSX 15.5.7, with the latest Live beta and the latest Max beta. A patch that doesn't work is the stepseq that came with M4L. I used a few VIs... Analog, NI Massive, etc... Same result. The Step sequencer plays sounds through the VIs, but does not record to a clip or arrange.

The MIDI generated by MfL devices (such as the Step Stequencer) is used to drive devices "downstream" from the device - it doesn't route back into the MIDI stream that your track is trying to record.

Create a second MIDI Track and select midi input from the track with the sequencer.

Thanks a lot that works great! That is why i did not want to file a bug report right away. Since it can receive midi, I will have it pick a pattern from midi or from the Lemur though OSC.

Thanks again...
