getting a clips current playing position

I'm wondering how to get data for a clips current playing position so as to send that data to an external app?
I'm wanting to sync an audio clip in the session views playback (loops etc) with an external video clip (via osc).

From what i understand... You cannot currently get the clips playing position. However, I am working with the idea of starting a metro when the clip is launched in order to kind of get the same effect. I haven't really had time to put a patch together, but i will shortly.

sounds good, would this method be able to keep up with loops and sample offset within a clip?
