[ann] LividStep: m4l step sequencer updated

Post by peboer » Fri Feb 12, 2010 7:40 pm

Just wanted to announce I've made a lot of fixes and improvements to LividStep. It's designed for our Ohm64 and block controllers. Even if you don't have one of our controllers, the m4l device is worth a look, and adaptable to other devices. It centers around live.step, but takes over the clock so it is completely warpable. It uses 8 steps, but allows so much variation, that 8 steps is plenty for building up a track.
The download:

An overview video (a bit dated, as it doesn't have the changes):

Complete documentation:

Hope you check it out and let me know what you think!

Re: [ann] LividStep: m4l step sequencer standalone!

Post by peboer » Thu Mar 04, 2010 11:31 pm

For those without Max For Live, I've been working on a standalone version of this so you can direct the output over IAC or MIDI Yoke (or to outboard gear). Even if you do have max for live, you might find this standalone easier to integrate into your setup, sending MIDI to tracks in your existing setup and syncing to Live's midi clock and start/stop messages.
The standalone lets you send each of 8 sequences to any MIDI port & channel, and has an interface for sending program and bank changes. This could be used in conjunction with a VST or other plugin host. (I've been testing with the OS X AU general midi synth. Nothing like a crappy GM synth to make your day!)
Thirty-two presets let you store combinations of sequences, program changes, etc... pretty much all settings.

Here's a beta Mac build if you want to take a look:

Windows version and standalone-specific documentation will follow, but for the meantime, you can refer to the wiki in the above post for most of the documentation.

Enjoy!
