modulating vst parameters

Post by sacredgeometry » Mon Jul 12, 2010 1:18 am

How would i write a patch that modulates the parameters on vst instruments with flexibility?

What i mean is is there any way to set up mapping so that you can choose on the fly where you are pointing the modulation without having it hard coded. ie this instrument on this track.

for example

say you wanted to make an envelope patch or an lfo patch, with a modulation matrix how would you make the modulation matrix part so you could patch it into any other part of max or its current instruments?

Thanks

In the production forum someone posted a Max patch which lets you sidechain anything with anything.

I was going to take it apart to allow any LFO (or repeating abstract wave shape, like the ones in the FM tutorials) to be applied to any Live parameter... But if that's what you're after, and you make it before I do, please post it here! :)

It's in my dropbox. Download it with this link:

It's made by TrackTeam Audio, which looks like a good resource.

www.trackteamaudio.com

It includes a control which lists the available devices in Ableton and allows you to select one, then a parameter. Which I think is what you're after?

Someone's already tied a modulator to one of these.

Parameter LFO

It has issues by the sounds of it...

I just created simple LFO plugin that I uploaded to maxforlive.com, I would be curious for someone to try it out. You can either run the lfo sync'd to the transport or have it run freely. While it is a simple plugin I put a fair amount of work into it to make it work seamlessly with live by logically mapping the order of the controls for an APC40, saving the track, device and the parameter with the live set and resetting the initial value of the parameter when the set is stopped/started.

It can be found here http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device.php?id=354
