sequencing external lights/lamps using max or ableton?

Post by benjamingordon » Tue Nov 16, 2010 7:02 pm

hi.

this might sound like a mad question but is it possible to synchronise external lights with ableton?

more specifically lamps which just have an on and off via the plug... so its more about being able to turn things on and off using a computer.

this is an idea for a music video that can only be realised if the lights are in sync with the music.

thanks!

Depending on the way you've set this whole thing up I'd be somewhat surprised if M4L wouldn't be able to prevail one way or the other.

There are already a few existing solutions for Max, see for example this thread and those may be easily ported within Max for Live.

Another Max patch I came across can be found here.

I have no idea how that stuff works, but IMO it is proof that its likely to be doable with Max for Live as well. Depending on a lot of specific factors of course.
With kind regards,

Peter
