Is there now a downloadable update for max for live, or is it bundled in the new ableton suite download? I am a registered owner of max for live but do not see an update in my account downloads.
Also, I'm working pt in a studio that has max installed, and I've always wondered two things:
1. If the computer now has an older version of max running and I have new max for live objects that are incompatible, will they just open inside max for live, and more importantly...
2. Can I force objects to open up in max for live, rather than opening max as a separate application?
Any and all help is much appreciated!

There's a new Max version and the download link is at the top of this forum section.
1) There are no incompatible objects. Worst case is that some patches may need a little update, but nothing much trickier than changing a few options.
2) MFL devices always open up in MFL.

On this studio computer with max installed, max for live devices open in the full version of max. How can I force them to open in max for live instead?

Yes, I just tried that and it opens in maxmsp. ?

It actually launches the separate application max/msp 5. Is that normal? Does it open it's own version of max/msp 5 if you don't have the full application installed?

But its the same application, just using different MIDI and Audio drivers. And you can't use it to build standalone Max applications.
