Set Basic Parameters on omx.comp~

Post by Syncretia » Wed Jan 02, 2013 10:02 pm

I'm trying to add the compressor omx.comp~ in to my patch. This is not really a problem, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to set the parameters like "Attack", "Release", etc. I know there is an example in the help, but it's so complicated I can't make heads or tails of it.

Basically, I want to have knobs to specify attack, release, threshold etc. and I want to be able to specify some useful defaults like for example that it should always compress in stereo.

I'd really appreciate a pointer to a help topic on this. I find the help for M4L impossible to navigate.

It's OK. I found the "Tweaking Compression" tutorial which had a good example.

also take a look in your Live 8 Library at:

Max Audio Effect > Tools > Max Compressor

i agree the omx.* series are very over complex and have the strangest parameter values, but after a while you get used to it and appreciate that they are really great tools that, being Max, you can control every smallest detail of.

good luck.
