It's not possible, is it ?
What would be the best alternative ? udp ?

It works only if the M4L device is in edit mode. So in general you'd need UDP for this.

are you talking about send~ and receive~ for audio?

The normal [send] and [receive] objects to send data between patches or devices works great in M4L. I use it constantly.

udpsend/udpreceive is great but I do wish there was an option like the forward object where you can change the destination on the fly. The IP and port of udpsend can't be changed within a patch. Otherwise i'm always impressed at how much data I can slam through OSC without any noticeable lag.

Not sure what you mean. In fact, both can be changed with 'host' and 'port' messages.

Yeah but that changes it globally for the udpsend versus per message like what you can do with [forward]

yes, that changes what happens to ALL data sent to the udp* device. I am talking about the ability to do it PER message such as what you can do with [forward[

With udpsend you can't say "send .00152 to 127.0.0.1 port 53423" then "send .1232 to 192.168.0.1 on 52523". You'd have to change the host and port for the entire udpsend which would get into all sorts of race conditions.

Yeah but thats defeats the purpose of dynamically changing destination if you'd have to know them all in advance to make the multiple static udpsend objects.

I already know how to solve the problem of routing things to multiple IPs and ports either with messages in a single udpsend or by using multiple ones but it could be simpler and easier. Just like [forward] is it send/receive. It's just a usability thing, not a functionality thing.
