Live 9 Compatible Devices?

Post by triant » Sat Mar 09, 2013 5:45 pm

as you know, many M4L devices no longer work in live 9. i'm ok with this - all the elements I depend on are either updated/improved for live 9 or things i can build myself.

however, i haven't seen a list anywhere of which 3rd-party & community devices are confirmed to be compatible with live 9, and i think this would be helpful.

robert henke, for instance, has updated a bunch of devices for live 9 (in addition to granulator v2): http://www.monolake.de/technology/m4l.html

does anyone know of any lists of this nature? if not, perhaps you can name or link to any devices you have confirmed to be compatible in this thread?

also, what ever happened to all those great M4L building blocks from live 8? the API abstractions etc. do these still work?

cheers

yeah, probably safe to assume that anything available direct from Ableton's own 'Packs' library will be compatible. ;)

I'm not exactly sure what IS and is not compatible, but I find that most things work.
There has been no major changes to most Max objects and how they behave, which should make trouble shooting anything that is not working fairly simple.

Contrtol Surfaces behave a bit different, for example a button press on an APC40 used to produce a 1 for pressed and 0 for released, now it's 127 and 0.

see, thats the kind of moronic update that will screw my whole set, having to redo all the mappings (and there are hundreds of them)

Changed for the velocity sensitivity of the push!

makes sense for push, tbh it made sense for the launchpad too as it outputs vel = 0 or vel=127 for on / off

I can not get any of Robert Henke's devices to work in Live 9 except for Granualtor II. The others each cause Live to crash.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Quite a lot of things doesn't work from which worked in live 8 perfectly. For example puremagnetik Fuel pack does not work at all. They say it's a compatibility bug and that they are working on it. a lot of devices from maxforlive.com does not work or work in a very weird way. For example this one:

http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device/347/pitch

Working PERFECTLY in live 8 but when i drop it in live 9 i am having serious CPU spikes. etc.etc.etc.

Sad situation for me but i guess these things will eventually be sorted out.,.
